Dear Fellow Traveler,

Want to see corporate America's middle finger wrapped in a bow?

A major credit agency has "generously" compensated me for a catastrophic data breach with a $5.95 prepaid Visa card.

I just got my digital card via email instead of a physical card.

Why print it and mail it?

They hoped it would end up in my spam folder, so it would go unnoticed. By the way, a consultant (I used to be one) probably came up with that idea to save money from people failing to see the notice…

The comedy was that they made me update all of my information that they lost the first time… so… seriously… who cares?

I signed a waiver.

But I didn’t read it.

It probably said I can’t name them in public.

They could sue me for screaming their name… but for what?

Calling them out on their utter failure… eight years ago?

The dollar has lost 24% of its value since then… so in 2017 dollars - when this hack happened - my digital identity was really… $4.56?
