Dear Fellow Traveler:
Yesterday, I did a full breakdown of how momentum works and the things we follow regularly to know where money is heading before the headlines.
I also spent the day sulking because Northwestern’s Women’s Lacrosse team lost the national championship to the University of North Carolina. Fun fact: I was a practice goalie for Northwestern’s Women’s team in college.
They lit me up…
Even though they shoot a lot slower than the guys I played against… they move the damn ball so fast it’s really hard to get into position for a save. Second fun fact: Their team nickname is “The Lake Show,” which I consider one of the best in sports.
Today, Cornell University is playing the University of Maryland in the Men’s title game. It’s been 38 years since Cornell won its last title (a back-to-back championship team). The team in 1977 was headed by Eamon McEneaney, who won the outstanding player award in the title game. They won again in 1978.
McEneaney was an employee at Cantor Fitzgerald and died during the 9/11 attacks.
I grew up watching Cornell play Princeton (the best rivalry in the Ivy League).
McEneaney and Princeton goalie Scott Bacigalupo were the primary reasons I wore #10 all my life.
And speaking of goalie (I was one), Maryland goalie Logan McNaney will play his final college game today.
I can say, without a doubt, he is the best lacrosse goalie I have ever seen… with apologies to the entire McGinnis family.
Have a great day…
Go Terps.
Stay positive,
Garrett Baldwin
A story that must be told: My bond specialist new many at Cantor Fitzgerald while i was at Schwab. Where I started was at Dean Witter, the largest tenant in the south tower. I was there in training for a month, you meet new friends, class of 05/20/1995. My bond specialist "Liz" at Schwab lost many friends at Cantor, it took her a week just to come back to work. My first equity trader, Mark at Dean Witter survived, I used to call him "Mark to Market" and I hated it when he'd call me and say, Jeffrey, Jeffrey, Jeffrey in disappointment. Mark helped work spreads on the NASDAQ. I dropped a ticket for a thousand shares of PFE and he informed me he could work the NYSE as well.
