Dear Fellow Expat:

All Alan Stillman wanted to do was to meet women.

In 1965, this enterprising New Yorker had a lightbulb moment…

It’d change his dating life… and casual dining forever.

If he opened a bar on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, he judy might improve his chances of meeting singles….

At the time, the concept of a singles bar was virtually nonexistent.

Bars were typically dingy, male-dominated establishments.

Stillman envisioned a comfortable, inviting place…

And, most importantly, co-ed. You know… an “after-work mixer” with… mixers…

He wanted a spot where the cocktails were as fashionable as the patrons.

And so, TGI Fridays was born.
