How To Avoid Buffett’s 'Secret Underground Poker Ring'

I've had three cups of coffee today... so we can calm down and talk about how to protect against any uncertainty in the markets.

Dear Fellow Expat:

Mays Chapel Road was backed up two miles... before I had any coffee.

With my morning commute into Baltimore delayed, change of plans. I spun the wheel hard right instead – toward Starbucks (SBUX) – to write.

Behind me, a GMC truck rode my tail…

Ahead some 1,000 feet, a doe crossed the road.

The GMC lay on its horn.... I guess she wanted coffee more than I did.

I slowed down, trying to find another brown shadow among the tapestry of fallen leaves. 

The honking grew louder. I slowed down further.

Louder! Further.

And then, there she was. Another doe ran into the road – 30 feet before me.

Deer travel in herds. The risk of a second deer should have been obvious.

But for the car behind me, they came this close to swinging around and trying to pass on a double-lane road. 

That would have ended badly for the deer and the driver.
