How to Make a Fortune if a Crisis Happens
Stop thinking about the target on the S&P 500 for 2025. Instead target the downside ahead of what comes next for the global economy.
Dear Fellow Expat:
China’s economy will shape the next few years for the markets.
China is my No. 1 risk for 2025, given its tariff issues, questions about its stability, and worries that it will continue to face a debt-deflation trap.
We are witnessing the worst deflation run in China's economy since the late 1990s.
When China engages in quantitative easing ("QE"), it will put even greater pressure on U.S. inflation figures. I expect China to have some level of QE and stimulus within the next few quarters. That will be very bullish (when it happens) for names like Baidu (BIDU).
But it’s not just about stocks. Commodities will do well, too.
Logic says the nation will eventually devalue its currency – likely with coordination among other central banks — out of pure necessity.
The problem… is WHEN.
I don’t have that answer. The only person who knows that is likely some bureaucrat who works in the negative second floor of the People’s Bank of China.
