Dear Fellow Expat:

Whoa… whoa… whoa.

Slow down.

Let me look at this thing again.

Okay… all that blue is water… I get that.

But you’re telling me there’s something else outside of these 3.8 million square miles that we call the United States?

What’s the yellow mass thing above us?

“Canada?”

I thought that was America’s Hat…

Mexico? I thought that was just a town in Missouri.

Wait… you’re telling me there’s a whole other Hemisphere?

Do people live there?

Let me look over there…

Does a guy named “Chad” own the country Chad?

“The Gambia?” That’s a fun word to say.

This is blowing my mind.

You’ll have to excuse me…

I grew up near Washington, D.C.

If you watch the national news, follow national politics, or find yourself in any restaurant in that city, you’d know that we’re taught that America and its politics are the center of not just the world…

But the universe.
