You'd Better Learn The Rules of the Republic

We start the New Year with a bit of pop in the markets... but way too much optimism around China without any tangible evidence of improvement.

Dear Fellow Expat:

Happy New Year.

The Republic is an independent and profitable State of Mind.

There’s no major difference here - except for the subtraction of “Florida” after our departure and relocation to the East Coast. I’m still looking for a qualifier on this…

We plan to enjoy our lives in 2025, attend to things that matter, like family and friends, and make money to survive the reckless policies of the last 30 years.

If we spend all our time worrying about American politics, bankrupted cities, social ineptitude, prattling moral betters, and things outside our control, we’ll miss what matters most in life.

Given the events of the last few months (I’m not having surgery now as I work with the Hopkins medical staff)I refuse to do that in 2025.

We will focus on the things we can control and change.
